1 – Arkansas State Goes Into Its Bowl Game With Yet Another Coaching Change

Sites such as payperhead.com/sportsbook-software can help you with the technology of betting, but you have to read between the lines to get a full understanding of a college football game. For Arkansas State, the amazing reality of this bowl game is that the Red Wolves are playing in the postseason without a permanent head coach for yet another year. Last season, the Red Wolves lost head coach Gus Malzahn to the Auburn Tigers before their bowl game. The previous season, the Red Wolves lost coach Hugh Freeze before their bowl game. Now, in 2013, the Red Wolves already know that when they take the field for the 2014 GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile, Ala., they won’t have Bryan Harsin as their head coach on the sidelines. Harsin, after one season in Jonesboro, Ark., with the ASU program, left and went to the Northwest as Boise State’s new head coach. Harsin might have stayed at Arkansas State, but when Chris Petersen left Boise State to become the new head coach at the University of Washington, Harsin – who had served as Petersen’s offensive coordinator for several seasons and was a huge part of Boise State’s emergence as a football powerhouse, decided to take that job and become Petersen’s successor. Arkansas State was left holding the bag, even though the school imposed a $1.75 million buyout on the school that took Harsin away. The program has been paid money, but in return, it must find yet another coach, the fifth one in the past five seasons. (Steve Roberts coached the Red Wolves in 2010 before Freeze began the succession of one-year coaching stints in 2011, followed by Malzahn in 2012 and Harsin in 2013.)

Naturally, it will be a point of interest to see how Arkansas State’s players respond to yet another coaching change. If the Red Wolves turn this moment into an opportunity, they could do really well. If they don’t, however, things could get ugly in this game against a very talented Ball State squad.

2 – Can Ball State Close Its Season In Style?

A good price per head bookie website will add to your base of knowledge. Ball State wants to add to its postseason win total under head coach Pete Lembo and walk away from the 2013-2014 season feeling that it achieved something. Ball State has enjoyed a good season. A 10-win campaign is certainly something to be proud of. Yet, because of the strength of Northern Illinois, Ball State didn’t even win its own division in the Mid-American Conference. The Cardinals also lost a non-conference game to Texas Tech. If they lose this game here, the Cardinals will feel that they didn’t measure up in their biggest games of the season, and that’s something no team wants to feel, even if it winds up winning 10 games. Ball State has a very good head coach in Pete Lembo. Winning this game would add to Lembo’s credentials, making him a very attractive candidate for a bigger job 12 months from now.

3 –The Long Layoff

This is the non-BCS bowl that’s played on the first Sunday of January. The teams in this game will not have played in over a month. The team that shakes off rust first is probably going to be the team that wins.
